#84 Gǎn'ēn Jié (Thanksgiving)

Hello everyone! I hope everyone had a great thanksgiving!  Its pretty weird to think I only have one more Thanksgiving before I will be back home! Its been a pretty awesome week here though. We met a new family last night and they seem to have potential! We were going to have an awesome lesson with the Adame family and talk about Marriage, but sister Adames mom passed away which meant they went back to texas for an unknown amount of time. So that was kind of tough but oh well. I also had the opportunity to speak in a sacrament meeting yesterday which went super well! It was kind of weird to be speaking to an empty chapel and an Iphone but people really liked it!     Thanksgiving was great and we ate with Bishop Whetten and his family and they were very nice! I have never eaten more food in my life, wowza.     As many of you know, we had the opportunity to listen to and participate in president Nelson's message of hope and healing, as I have gotten the opportunit...

Hello everyone! It's been a wonderful week here in the wonderful Camarillo area! We have been working hard and teaching a lot despite covid and the craziness of the world around us, On Monday we taught the Adame family about the gift of the holy ghost and sister Adame was just loving it, they are progressing really well but they have some roadblocks we are trying to help them get over. The best part of the week was exchanges! We had two exchanges this week, the first with Elder McArthur and the second with Elder Bilton. These went really well and I got to learn so much from both of them! This week has absolutley flown by and I have made some discoveries I would like to share with you all.      You will often hear that the remedy for worry is hard work, I often took this bit of advice as just a good saying but never really applied it. Oh man was I wrong. This week has definiltey proven this saying to be true, as we have worked hard we have seen so many blessings and most o...

#86 Henderson Zhǎnglǎo (Elder Henderson)

Hey everyone this week has been both really crazy, slow, sad, and still absolutely wonderful. The biggest thing that happened this week was our companion, Elder Henderson, got sent home. This was probably one of the hardest things I have ever had to witness (except for childbirth yuck). I had to watch this Elder go through the motions of realizing he is going to be sent home. I have some thoughts about this but I will share them later. The big highlight of the week is when the family we are teaching (the Adame family) came to church yesterday! This was super awesome and the ward members just absolutely loved them and took them in! All we have to do now is to get them married! We also got to teach one of our favorite families (the Greens) on Thursday! They are super awesome and we are trying to get them to come back to church. They are members but brother Green feels like he gets weird looks due to his tattoos. Anyway we are working hard on these two families right now. Sadly we have no...

Sorry about the lack of a chinese translation but my phone is rather busted haha. Anyway its been a crazy week! I flew into Beautiful (and really foggy) Santa Barbara on Monday. On the SLC flight I had the opportunity to teach a girl named Kristina and answer some of her questions about the church and clear up some stereotypes about who we are and what we do! We got to The mission home and the next day I met my Trainer Elder Landeen, and my companion Elder Henderson (we are a trio or "tripan") we headed to our apartment in a little town called Camarillo. It is a wonderful place and the members here are the best. We had a rather busy first night but after that it been mostly quiet. Most of our finding is done over facebook which is hard, on thursday though we had a really cool experience.     We were walking through a dog park when we started talking with a wonderful woman named Patricia, we started talking and she opened up super fast. She talked about how she has been feelin...
