#28 新冠病毒 xīnguānbìngdú (Covid 19)

Well everyone, the cursed Corona finally reared its ugly head in my life. It always seems like  others have gotten it; close family, or friends. But never me. Well this week lightning struck and Elder Huff tested positive on Thursday, we are assuming I have it as well. It was all fun and games until I lost my voice as a side effect, now its really hard to do anything, but we have made it work. At one point this week half of our Zone was in quarantine. Yeah. It's been rough.

Despite our current physical circumstances this has probably been one of the most fruitful weeks of my mission. As our friends Shayne, Channing, and Charlotte all accepted a baptismal date (January 30th). Now these kids are the same ones we picked up last week, and over the course of two lessons we felt prompted to extend a baptismal date. We were kind of surprised it worked but it was obviously the lords plan. The kids are doing great and we are super excited to help them towards the 30th.

I had an interesting realization the other day after our lesson with the Boyce kids (Shayne, Channing, and Charlotte). I was thinking how strange it was that despite being in quarantine, doing zoom calls, and essentially not being able to speak, we were still seeing success. This lead me to the following thought.

The Lord makes things work. Despite our circumstances the Lord made it work with the Boyce's. Somehow the lord was able to make this, as a zone, our most successful week, despite half of the zone being in quarantine. Despite the circumstances around us, the Lord parts the Red Sea, and allows us to walk through on dry ground. When all seems lost, and it looks like there is no way out of our trials. God opens a way.

Funny / awesome story for the week: As we have been doing zoom calls with members throughout the week, unavoidably word has spread throughout the ward that we are sick. Now I dont know if the sisters in the ward have a group chat or something, but within the span of about 48 hours we had 8 different sisters in the ward asking what medicines we needed, what our favorite foods where, and what they could help with. It was really awesome and so nice of them. So for those worried about me. Don't. The Dos Vientos sisters have us covered.

Pictures!
1. We got this in the mail from the rival gang.
2. A strange rendition of Michael the Archangel that we found on Facebook... need I say more?
