#53 警察还是怀孕 jǐngchá háishi huáiyùn (Police or Pregnant)
Now I know all of you are going to be confused or thrown off guard by the title so I will hop into the stories. Monday evening we went to take our car and leave the apartment. Only to find that the exit had been blocked by a police car. We started heading towards the other exit only to be stopped by 5 heavily armed SWAT officers. So it turns out that about 3 buildings down there was a hostage scenario in one of the apartments. So we watched from our window as progressively more and more officers showed up to handle the scenario. It felt like a movie until President Carter called us and discussed evacuation procedures. Luckily we were far enough from the problem that we got to stay in our apartment! So that was quite the beginning to our week. We woke up the next morning and learned that the situation had been handled.
The second half of the title comes with the fact that I have been called to be a Trainer! So on your mission your Trainer is often referred to as your dad (or mom for sisters) so once you train you have a quote on quote child. I am super excited to train but I also know it is going to make this next transfer very difficult. But I know that if I rely on charity and the lord all will work.
One cool experience I had this week came while we were biking to a member that lived 6 miles away, we were biking down this road that seemed to go forever. With no shade. In 95°. It was pretty miserable as I looked around and when I focused on the road, but as I looked up and focused on the vineyards and the hills. I became very much appreciative of the beauty of the world. I said out loud "God is the best". It helped me realize that as we focus on the small things, and the progress we have made we see the beauty in it all. Look for the small beauties and tender mercies in life.
Funny story for the week: as we were out biking this week this guy in the opposite lane drove up, stopped, rolled down his window, and said: "Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life man. You Mormons better be right". And then drove off. It was so random and super funny. We laughed about it for a while.
You all are the best!
