#93 Xuéxí Wéi Ai Tā (Learning To Love It)
Well another week in the books. It has been another long week full of hard and often boring classes. But every week has its upsides, and these bright patches of fun and laughter are what often get me through the week. The first bright patch of the week came on Thursday afternoon when me and Elder Miller met with our new friend (we have been asked to no longer refer to them as investigators) Grace! Grace has been doing great and says she is feeling the spirit a lot more, and even better, we got her to commit to read a few verses in the book of mormon. Another bright patch of the week came when my Aunt Marlene and her girls brought me breakfast on Friday morning which was absolutely delicious. Then this morning I got to play ultimate frisbee with some of my friends that are still around. I also got to go play disc golf with some of my district members. In between these wonderful meetings of laughter and connection however I often feel discouraged and tired. One night I was stating how the last thing I wanted to do in the morning was wake up early and work out when my brother Sam turned to me and said this:
"Josh, if you don't learn to love it, you will always hate it." This struck me rather strongly, and I think this philosophy applies to all of us no matter where we are. If we spend our lives dreading and groaning and hating every day, you will never be happy. If all you ever look at are the negatives, you will never have time to focus on the positives. So as my brother powerfully states, learn to love it. This also ties neatly into another thought I had this week. Which is, Life/missions/everything is whatever you choose to make it. If you choose to groan and complain about everything, you will never get anything out of it, besides more reasons to hate it. "Seek and ye shall find" as the scriptures say. This goes both ways. Look for the good and you will find for the good. Look for the bad and you will find that also. So with that I would encourage you all to look for the good, when you can't find it, make the most out of the bad by finding the silver lining. Make every day a good day.
Funny story for the week, So last tuesday our night class teacher had to get tested for Covid, and he had to have a substitute on monday night because he wasn't feeling well, so on tuesday we decided to prank him and all show up to class wearing face masks, it was pretty good.
Here are this week's photos
